Natural (and Baby Safe!) Stain Removal

May 15, 2020
It can be so frustrating when you can’t remove a pesky stain. No matter what kind of chemical concoction you spray on it, you just can’t seem to get it entirely out. Nowadays, it can also be hard to find a cleaner that isn’t loaded with harmful toxins and chemicals. After all, you don’t want to continuously expose yourself to these chemicals, as well as your children, each time you have to clean something.

Let Us Guide You

NJ Laundry Service is a laundering business that understands how important natural and baby safe stain removal is. That is why we advise our customers on how to clean stains with only the safest materials that you have, using a lot of common household items that you probably have right under your kitchen sink! This way, you can both save money, and not expose yourself to the common spray cleaner you find at the store.

The Ingredients

Most stain removal cleaners utilize chemicals like perchloroethylene, quaternary, and others that you have probably never heard of. These toxins all have different adverse effects, but each one has the potential to increase health risks for the people in your family. The following ingredients are safe ingredients to help clean out stains. They are both all natural and extremely safe - even baby safe:

  • Rubbing alcohol
  • Borax
  • Hydrogen peroxide
  • White vinegar
  • Baking Soda

The Stains

Each stain is unique in its own way. Some stains are easier to get out and don’t need to be attacked by tough solutions, while others do. Below is a list of some of the most common stains, and how to get them out using the ingredients above:

  • Grass Stains: To get out a grass stain, scrub with liquid dish soap. If this does not work, and you are looking for something a little stronger, create a solution that is ½ water and ½ hydrogen peroxide. Let this soak, and watch as the grass stains disappear!
  • Mud Stains: The worst thing you can do with a mud stain is try to scrub it out while still wet. This will create an even bigger mess! Instead, wait until the mud dries, and then brush off what you can. Treat the rest of the stain with a mixture of Borax and water, and wash immediately.
  • Bodily Fluid Stains (urine, feces, or vomit): It is important to soak any article of clothing with this type of stain in cool water, so as not to enhance the smell. You can then wash the item with a mixture of 1/2 cup hydrogen peroxide and 1/2 cup baking soda in the washing machine. Good as new!
